“Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!” – Lewis Carroll
Execution is the most complex and the most exciting part of the project; you are operating on a live human where all parts are moving.
Once the project kicks off, the plan actually stars manifesting. And like any plan usually does, the reality hits hard. Its critical for the project manager to interact even more during this phase so know what is actually being made, does it work, is it useful, is it within decided constraints, etc.
You will see teams rejoice, burn out, scatter, evolve and all sorts of emotions. People are most important in a project. Which means you will need to intentionally manage what is important to them.
